It took a while until I got comfortable with this daytime lingerie looks. I start this series with a Kimono look which I think is appropriate for daytime or evening looks. It is a modern interpretation of a garment with a long tradition in Japan. I will provide a short historical background and a few style options.
Kimono a short introduction
The Kimono is a traditional Japanese robe which was first mentioned in the Heian period, 794-1192. It was new interpreted and produced from different fabrics over the time. The word Kimono means clothing. It is a very useful garment which can be stored easily because it is very simple to fold. Since it can be layered, this dress is wearable in summer and winter.
The Lingerie Style
In Winter the hype started with the Pyjama Look. Just recently I saw a look which I could imagine to wear too, a plain colored Pyjama with a Blazer. I will try to restyle this look in one of my next posts.
Zara has a Kimono in the current collection, and you can find that one in styling variants on Instagram. It is not necessary to buy a new robe if you or your mother has one it can be restyled easily. Since this style is a bit provocative, I designed my outfit with unmixed colors and very simple clothes. Layering is king. I am wearing a simple white top under the robe. The dressing gown is knotted in the back and makes the look effortless.
What I wore:
I love this sophisticated look. It is straightforward and extravagant at the same time. Take your time when you restyle the theme. You should feel comfortable when you leave the house in lingerie. It takes some courage!
